Start-ups Should believe !!

Finding genuine inspiration for a new venture, especially if you have worked on 1 or 2 that have not done so well, is the stark reality facing millions of entrepreneurs and start-ups daily.

The daunting task of finding where your market is, and how it will respond to your service or product is extremely tough. Add to this the realization that you must now physically get out there with all the enthusiasm, which you will need in spades btw, required to make it happen, is something that will kill many a great idea.

I’ve heard of lots of great ideas that have ‘died’ before they ever even had a proper chance to ‘live’. This is a real shame and something that can be avoided.

Think about it; are you capable of doing something special?
Is your inner desire and passion capable of making things happen, no matter the cost?
Do you believe (Inner belief is also essential) that you are good, or talented enough, to succeed where others have failed?

Only you will truly know this, but IMO you need to believe, and find inspiration from somewhere, Quick!

To find inspiration you must first be proactive in everything you do (people always sense if you are genuinely excited with a project or if you are just going through the motions) and do everything in your power to make it happen.

Below I outline some of the things you MUST! do (all cost virtually nothing).

First you need to get out there there and meet new people in your local enterprise centres. Sign up to established networking events (usually hosted at these enterprise centres), and find out what it is that the businesses there need and cannot get; better still, find out what they are doing; and ask yourself if can you can do it better (Or cheaper)?

You should also start a new network with business people in your local area. Find out how you can benefit each other.

Ask yourself these questions.

Can you do something they can’t? Do you have a certain set of skills, or a passion for certain professions; Yes? Then offer these services to your new connections. In return, ask for something you need, of equal value. (The barter system is not only alive and well, it is essential to most start-ups)

Have you got a social media page on all the main platforms, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter etc...? Do you have the required skillset to create pages, engaging content and posts on these (Mostly free) mediums? How will these posts benefit your target audience? Why should they care?

Have you tried Blogging? If so, did you do it just for the sake of getting hits on your blog page? Is your content really going to make your potential customers stay (for more than the normal 15 seconds you get with most blogs) ? Are they actually going to learn something new and interesting from you?

Do you lift the phone to make appointments or schedule meetings? Be honest, you don’t(very few do). The phone is the most under used method ofcommunication. This amazes me though; as a 2 minute phone conversation will deliver the same message, with a greater level of understanding, than several emails or messages.

When was the last time you had a coffee with an old connection or future client? Face to face meetings are the best way to get on in your growing business. Time and time again you will pick up ideas and tips at these face to face meetings; ideas and tips you know would never have been picked up on the phone or through email.

All of the above are the things you MUST! do (At least) to give you and your company a fighting chance. Inspiration is not easy to find, but doing all of the above, with your own brand of enthusiasm and style; will lead to bigger and better things. It might even lead to inspiration.

In addition to all of this, and If you should fail this time (or even next time) you must never be afraid to try again! 'Nothing worth having comes easy', and this is especially true in today’s uncertain and volatile economic markets. With lending institutes turning their backs on 99% of all new ventures, self-belief has never been more fundamental to your success. I myself have tried and failed; but I have never been afraid to get out there, find inspiration from somewhere, and try again. Can you do the same?
